Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and enhance regional stability.
In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry said Hussein received a phone call from Araghchi on Sunday evening, during which the Iranian minister briefed him on the latest developments related to the ongoing conflict, providing details on the reasons behind Iran’s recent response to the (Israeli) attack.
The statement added that the two sides discussed expected (Israeli) reactions in the coming period, as well as the trajectory of Iran–U.S. dialogue and its future prospects, along with broader regional developments.
It said both ministers emphasized the importance of stepping up diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthen regional stability, including engagement with European countries to play a more active role in supporting peace efforts.
They also agreed to continue coordination and communication on issues of mutual concern and regional developments, the statement added.
