U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that Iran would not obtain a nuclear weapon and that the United States was making significant progress in its dealings with Tehran.
"Iran will not have a nuclear weapon, and we are making great progress with them," Trump told reporters.
He reiterated that Washington was achieving "great success" in its engagement with Iran, adding that Tehran was "not in a position" to acquire a nuclear weapon.
Trump also noted that large numbers of oil tankers continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, which he said was one of the reasons oil prices had not surged to $300 per barrel.
