The Prime Minister, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, participated today, Friday, in the funeral procession of the eminent religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq Al-Fayyadh, in the holy city of Kadhimiya.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Prime Minister Al-Zaidi took part in the funeral ceremonies for the late Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq Al-Fayyadh, who passed away yesterday. The procession was attended by large crowds of religious scholars, clerics, and citizens in Kadhimiya.
The statement added that the Prime Minister expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy on the passing of Sheikh Al-Fayyadh, praying that Almighty God grant the deceased His vast mercy and bestow patience and comfort upon his family, followers, and loved ones.
Following the funeral procession, the Prime Minister performed the pilgrimage rites at the shrines of Imam Musa al-Kadhim and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (peace be upon them). He also met with a number of citizens during his visit.
