Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed developments in the Middle East and efforts to reduce escalation and promote stability during a phone call, the Qatari Amiri Diwan said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Diwan said the Emir received a telephone call from the U.S. president during which they reviewed the latest regional developments and discussed ongoing efforts to calm tensions in the region.
The Emir stressed the importance of prioritizing political solutions and dialogue in addressing crises, underlining the need to safeguard maritime navigation security and ensure the safety of strategic waterways, in a way that supports regional and international security and stability.
