President Nizar Amidi affirmed to the Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, Mar Paulos III Nona, on Tuesday, Iraq's pride in its religious and cultural diversity.
The Presidential Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "President Nizar Amidi met today, Tuesday, at the Chaldean Patriarchate headquarters in Baghdad, with His Beatitude the Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, Mar Paulos III Nona."
"At the beginning of the meeting, the President congratulated His Beatitude the Patriarch on his enthronement as Patriarch of the Chaldean Church."
According to the statement, the President affirmed "Iraq's pride in its religious and cultural diversity," noting "the historical significance of the Christian community in Iraq and its integral role in enriching national life, and appreciating the efforts of the Chaldean Church in supporting the values โโof moderation and human solidarity and strengthening the bonds of national unity."
He explained that "protecting religious diversity and safeguarding the rights of all communities are fundamental pillars in building the state and maintaining social stability
For his part, Patriarch Mar Paul III Nona expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the President of the Republic, commending his efforts in supporting the preservation of Iraqi diversity and consolidating the principles of citizenship and coexistence. He affirmed "the Chaldean Church's commitment to continuing its spiritual and national mission in supporting the foundations of love, tolerance, solidarity, and community service."
