US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed on Tuesday that the United States is still negotiating with Iran.
Rubio told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that "Iran still possesses a large number of drones."
He added that "Iran has been working to build a missile arsenal to use to protect its nuclear program," explaining that "Iran's conventional defenses have been significantly weakened."
The US Secretary of State emphasized that "the Iranian regime is fragmented, and we need days to get a response from them. We hope they will reopen the Strait of Hormuz," noting that "there is no Iranian navy; their fleet lies at the bottom of the sea."
He continued, "We are currently in negotiations with Iran, but negotiations with them are not like negotiations with Switzerland."
