President Nizar Amidi welcomed on Tuesday the positions and steps taken by the Coordination Framework in support of consolidating state authority, and affirmed his support for the initiative of the Secretary-General of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), President Amidi said, "We welcome the positions and steps taken at the Coordination Framework meeting that support the consolidation of state authority and the strengthening of its sovereignty."
Amidi added, "We also welcome and support the initiative of the Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, by disengaging with the Popular Mobilization Forces and emphasizing the principle of restricting weapons to the state, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the law, and enhancing security and stability in the country.”
Amidi stressed that “the strength and prestige of the state are embodied in its constitutional and legal institutions, and that any steps that contribute to supporting this represent a consolidation of state-building and the rule of law, and an enhancement of citizens’ confidence in their institutions, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution, the applicable laws, and the directives of the supreme religious authority.”
