PM Emphasizes the Role of Media and Opinion Leaders in Communicating Facts and Vision

Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi emphasized on Saturday the crucial role of media and opinion leaders in clarifying perspectives and facts and raising public awareness amidst the current circumstances.

The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received a group of media professionals, opinion leaders, and political and economic experts who offered their congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha."

"During the meeting, the Prime Minister listened to the attendees' opinions and suggestions for improving media performance, strengthening its vital role in conveying facts to the public, and increasing citizens' understanding of the various challenges facing the country, thereby contributing to greater awareness and the preservation of social cohesion," according to the statement.

The Prime Minister affirmed the government's commitment to providing full support to national media and press institutions in fulfilling their duties and mission, noting that the media is a fundamental partner in the nation-building process and a supporter of the government's efforts in combating corruption, achieving reform, and promoting stability and development.

Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of the role of the media and opinion makers in clarifying visions and facts and raising societal awareness in light of the current conditions, while he highlighted the need to adhere to professional and ethical standards and to completely separate the freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed by the constitution from attempts at blackmail and defamation to enhance the desired role of the media.
