The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that it is exchanging messages with the United States.
In a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Iranian Foreign Ministry said, "The exchange of messages with the US is ongoing, and the memorandum of understanding is not yet finalized."
It added, "We must see the credibility of lifting the naval blockade; is it genuine or merely media rhetoric?" The statement also noted, "At this stage, we are focused on ending the war and are not discussing the details of the nuclear issue."
The statement continued, "We are acting in accordance with our national interests, not according to what the Americans tell us we should do," emphasizing that "hostile vessels are prohibited from crossing the Strait of Hormuz, and commercial vessels have passed through in coordination with our forces."
It further stated that "the future management of the Strait of Hormuz is a matter for the two littoral states, Oman and Iran."
The statement concluded, "We are not discussing the details of uranium enrichment and nuclear materials at this stage," clarifying that "no Western party has the right to address us with dictates."
