Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has sparked controversy regarding the team's future coaching position after speaking for the first time about the possibility of signing Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho to succeed Alvaro Arbeloa.

Despite reports confirming Mourinho's imminent return to the Santiago Bernabeu, Perez revealed in a television interview that he has not yet spoken with the Portuguese coach, indicating that there are several other names being considered for the job.

The Real Madrid president said, "Mourinho is a fantastic coach, but I haven't spoken with him yet," clearly suggesting that the new coach's appointment is not yet finalized.

Meanwhile, Spanish reports indicate that an agreement between Real Madrid and Benfica is nearly complete, following the resolution of disagreements regarding Mourinho's financial compensation, thanks to the intervention of agent Jorge Mendes.

According to the reports, the official announcement of the deal remains contingent on the results of the Real Madrid presidential elections scheduled for June 7th. Perez is waiting for the outcome of the new term before revealing the next coach.

Perez also spoke about the future of the team's stars, stressing that the continuation of Vinicius Junior would be important for the club, along with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, considering that these players represent the future of Real Madrid in the coming years.
