Al-Sahaf: 352 Iraqi migrants who entered Libya illegally were returned over two years

The Iraqi Chargé d'Affaires in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, announced on Tuesday the success of the embassy's efforts, since its reopening two years ago, in repatriating 352 Iraqi migrants who had entered Libya illegally.

Al-Sahaf told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "352 Iraqi migrants who entered Libya illegally have been repatriated;" noting that "efforts have been ongoing for a week, in coordination with the relevant Libyan authorities, to determine the fate of a number of other migrants."

He added that "according to information received by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Tripoli, which the embassy is still verifying, the embassy is working to determine the fate of a number of migrants through official channels."

He emphasized that "the exceptional efforts made by the embassy over the past two years demonstrate the extent of the humanitarian, medical, and service support it has provided to ensure the safety and security of young migrants who fell prey to human trafficking and smuggling networks."

Al-Sahaf pointed out that "the embassy, ​​through its numbers and digital platforms, periodically warns Iraqi families against falling into the illegal behavior of smuggling groups and extortion networks."
