President Nizar Amidi affirmed on Saturday that Iraq is committed to supporting all efforts to restore security to the region and end the war.

“We are committed to supporting all efforts to restore security to the region and end the ongoing war, respecting the will of its peoples and achieving a just and lasting peace through diplomacy and constructive dialogue,” Amidi said in a speech during his attendance at the graduation ceremony for the first class of students from the American University, followed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

Amidi pointed to “strengthening the state’s control over security matters through its constitutional military and security institutions, and prohibiting the possession of weapons or the use of any force outside of the constitutional security institutions. This is what the constitution affirms and what the wise religious leadership has urged.”

“Cooperation between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the state, as well as political and societal forces, is necessary to safeguard the country's sovereignty, protect its independence, and make bold decisions to overcome the security, financial, and economic crises and eradicate corruption," he underscored.

The President congratulated the graduating students and their families, wishing them "successful professional lives so they may contribute to the progress and development we aspire to for our country, Iraq."
