The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, stressed on Saturday the importance of completing clean and vital energy projects.
A statement from Sayyid Al-Hakim’s office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, received the Minister of Electricity, Ali Saadi Wahib, at his office in Baghdad, and discussed with him the reality of the electricity sector in Iraq and ways to develop it in order to improve supply hours and meet the needs of citizens.”
The statement added that “Sayyid Al-Hakim listened to the Minister of Electricity vision for managing the ministry and its current and future plans to address the challenges facing the energy sector,” stressing that “electricity represents the basis of development and the most important nerve in driving the productive sectors, especially agriculture, industry, tourism and investment.”
Sayyid Al-Hakim called for "adopting immediate and strategic solutions to address the decline in supply hours," stressing "the importance of cooperation with the private sector and benefiting from successful experiences in this field, as well as paying attention to the transport, distribution and collection sectors and promoting a culture of rational consumption of electrical energy."
It emphasized "the necessity of achieving equitable distribution of electricity among the provinces," noting "the importance of cooperation with local governments to ensure the success of the ministry's plans."
Sayyid Al-Hakim also pointed to "the need to grant Basra governorate special consideration given its contributions to Iraq as a whole, as well as its hot climate during the peak of summer," stressing "the importance of early preparations for the month of Muharram and securing Iraq's electricity needs during this period."
The statement added,"the importance of completing vital projects, especially clean energy projects, which contribute to enhancing the stability of the electrical system and supporting sustainable development in the country."
