The Central Criminal Court issued a death sentence on Wednesday against two drug dealers who were caught with 128,000 Captagon pills.
The Judicial Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the Central Criminal Court issued a death sentence against two drug dealers for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances, indicating that "the two convicts were found in possession of 128,000 Captagon pills, which were smuggled in using a balloon equipped with GPS technology, with the intention of trafficking and distributing them among users."
It pointed out that "the ruling was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 27/First of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017, and in reference to Articles 47, 48 and 49 of the Penal Code."
