A broad security meeting was held on Tuesday at the Joint Operations Command headquarters to review security and pre-emptive plans aimed at addressing any potential threats and to enhance the readiness of security forces.

According to a statement from the Joint Operations Command received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), and “based on directives from the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, and in light of current challenges,” the meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, and the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhammadawi.

The statement said the expanded conference brought together the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, commanders, directors, and staff officers from the Ministries of Defence and Interior, the Popular Mobilisation Forces, and intelligence and security agencies.

It added that the meeting reviewed the results of recent security operations carried out by military units across different areas of responsibility, assessing achieved gains and discussing deployment plans to ensure better coverage on the ground and strengthen security and stability across all regions.

The participants also examined pre-emptive and operational plans designed to respond to any possible threats, and measures to raise the readiness level of security forces to counter attempts aimed at undermining security.
