The Head of the Babylon Movement Rayan al-Kildani on Monday stressed the importance of joint work between national and religious leaders in strengthening the values of peace and coexistence.
The media office of the Babylon Movement said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Paulus III Nona, head of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, received the head of the Babylon Movement Rayan al-Kildani, who attended wearing traditional Alqosh attire, accompanied by a delegation from the movement including a number of MPs and leaders, to welcome his arrival in Baghdad and to offer congratulations on his election as Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world.”
Al-Kildani said during the meeting, according to the statement, that joint work between national and religious leaders is essential to entrench the values of peace and coexistence, stressing that the Babylon Movement believes in the importance of preserving Iraq’s spiritual, cultural, and historical roots.
He praised the significant role the Patriarch will play in caring for members of the Chaldean Church, noting that he represents a spiritual father to all and holds a great position in the hearts of Christians and Iraqis in general.
Al-Kildani also presented the Patriarch with a pastoral staff as a gesture of appreciation and respect for the spiritual and national role played by the Chaldean Church in promoting values of faith, love, and coexistence.
Those present expressed hopes, according to the statement, that Iraq would enjoy security and stability, and that values of love and fraternity would remain present among all its people.
