The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep concern on Monday regarding the targeting of facilities in Saudi Arabia by three drones. It confirmed that no information regarding such an attack had been detected by Iraqi air defense systems or optical equipment.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Ministry said, "We express our deep concern regarding the reports circulating about an attack on facilities in the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by three drones." The statement emphasized "the deep fraternal and historical relations that bind the two brotherly countries, Iraq's constant commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, and its continued firm stance against any targeting of brotherly nations."
The Ministry explained that it "received initial information regarding an attack on the Kingdom by three drones and is closely monitoring this information." It confirmed that "the relevant authorities immediately initiated the necessary verification and investigation procedures to determine the circumstances and details of the incident," and it confirmed that "no information regarding such an attack was detected by Iraqi air defense systems or optical equipment."
The Ministry, according to the statement, called upon "the relevant authorities in the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to cooperate and exchange relevant information, in order to contribute to obtaining accurate information that enhances security and stability in both brotherly countries."
It emphasized "the Republic of Iraq's firm position of respecting the security, safety, and sovereignty of brotherly countries, and its rejection of any actions that would harm or threaten its national security, or harm fraternal relations with brotherly countries," affirming "its commitment to continued coordination and consultation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a manner that enhances security and stability in the region and serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries."
