Head of the National State Forces Alliance Ammar al-Hakim has stressed the importance of completing the legislative framework governing Iraq’s oil sector.
In a statement issued by al-Hakim’s media office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Hakim met on Sunday evening with Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair, congratulating him on securing parliamentary confidence and wishing him success in advancing the ministry’s work.
During the meeting, Al-Hakim underscored the need to complete ongoing projects, particularly those related to natural gas, emphasizing the importance of supporting national efforts, developing oil sector personnel, and obliging companies to prioritize the employment of Iraqi workers over foreign labor.
He also highlighted the necessity for the ministry to pay greater attention to services in oil- and gas-producing regions, particularly in northern Basra.
Al-Hakim called for the completion of the legislative infrastructure of the oil sector, foremost among them the oil and gas law, stressing the ministry’s role in developing a comprehensive vision that safeguards the rights of all parties and strengthens national unity.
He further emphasized the importance of diversifying export routes and taking advantage of the current period to launch relevant infrastructure projects.
