Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Sunday that he will provide full support to the national team in its journey in the World Cup.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, and the national team coach, Graham Arnold, who offered their congratulations on his government receiving the confidence of the Council of Representatives."
According to the statement, al-Zaidi emphasized "the importance of sports, in all its forms, which have become influential in developmental and economic aspects," expressing "his full support for developing the sports sector, which will contribute to its advancement and the achievement of success."
Al-Zaidi affirmed "full support for the national football team in its way to the World Cup," directing that they be transported by private plane to their training camp scheduled to be held in Spain before the start of the tournament.
