The head of Al-Hikma National Movement, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, called on Saturday for continued efforts to search for mass graves and uncover the fate of the missing, stressing that such crimes do not expire with time.

In a statement marking the National Day of Mass Graves, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Hakim said: “We stand before a crime that does not expire with time and a pain that years cannot erase, as oppression, dictatorship, and terrorism claimed the lives of thousands of innocent children, women, and elderly people.”

It added: “We call for the continued search for mass graves, as many of the missing are still missing and their burial places are unknown, especially some of the sons of Imam al-Hakim’s family (may God sanctify his soul), It is necessary to inform future generations about these crimes through educational curricula and official national memory.”
