Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday affirmed to Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi his aspiration to strengthen and expand cooperation between Baghdad and Moscow.
In a cable addressed to the Prime Minister and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Putin said: “Please accept my sincere congratulations on assuming the position of Prime Minister,” noting that “Russian-Iraqi relations are based on deep-rooted traditions of friendship and mutual respect.”
He added: “I look forward to your work at the head of the government contributing to strengthening and expanding fruitful and mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in various fields in a way that serves the interests of our two peoples and contributes to ensuring regional stability and security. I wish you success and continued good health and wellbeing.”
