MPs, legal experts, and political analysts confirmed the importance of the parliament session scheduled to be held today, Thursday, to vote on the ministerial cabinet and the government curriculum of Prime Minister-designate Ali Al-Zaidi, while they stressed that completing the formation of the government represents an essential step to achieve political, economic, and security stability in the country, in light of current regional challenges and economic crises.
MP Adel Hashoush Al-Rikabi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the voting process on the ministerial cabinet, granting confidence to the anticipated government, and voting on the government program presented by the Prime Minister-designate are of great importance, and there is anticipation and waiting by all members of the Iraqi people due to its importance in completing constitutional entitlements."
He added that "forming the government is the last of the constitutional entitlements following the parliamentary elections that took place, and we are still within the constitutional period," indicating that "today, Thursday, has been set as a date for the vote, and this government will pass."
He pointed out that "the region is experiencing major challenges and Iraq is part of it, therefore political and security stability is required, along with addressing the daily living requirements of the citizen, especially with the approach of the summer season and the files of electricity and services, as well as how to deal with the crises of the region and the war that still looms over its atmosphere," expressing his hope that "the process will proceed smoothly to complete the constitutional entitlements."
For her part, the MP from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc, Sarwa Mohammed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "today's session, Thursday, will witness the vote on the ministerial curriculum and the ministerial cabinet of the designee Ali Al-Zaidi, and all MPs are familiar with the government curriculum and will view the names of the candidates during the session."
She stressed that "voting on the ministerial cabinet is very important, due to the presence of economic and security crises, especially in light of the ongoing regional conflict," pointing out that "granting confidence to the government will provide stability to the political process, and contribute to completing strategic projects, passing the budget, opening the door to foreign investment, and strengthening the economy, tourism, and the industrial and commercial sectors."
She added that "the war in the region has led to the disruption of oil exports, which Iraq mainly relies upon, necessitating the finding of solutions," emphasizing that "the formation of the government at this timing is very important due to the financial, security, and economic crisis that Iraq is going through."
In turn, the MP from the State of Law Coalition, Ibtisam Al-Hilali, explained to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the Parliament has completed all organizational and technical preparations, and set the date for the confidence-granting session to vote on the ministerial curriculum and the government of the designee Ali Al-Zaidi."
She pointed out that "there is confirmation by the political forces to complete the constitutional entitlements during Thursday's session and vote on the ministerial cabinet," indicating that "forming the government at this time carries positive dimensions for Iraq politically, economically, and securely, in light of the current regional conditions."
She added that "everyone is waiting for the formation of the government in order to proceed with preparing the general budget law and voting on it, alongside passing a number of important laws, including the Federal Civil Service Law, the salary scale, and the Popular Mobilization Forces."
For his part, the member of the Al-Azm Alliance, Dr. Salah Al-Dulaimi, confirmed in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the country needs a government with full powers to address the economic and regional files and the repercussions of the ongoing war," pointing out that "the crisis related to the Strait of Hormuz and the economic repercussions it has caused make the need urgent for a stable government with full powers."
He added that "the Al-Azm Alliance supports the Prime Minister-designate, as he is a young figure possessing an economic background, and the support comes from the standpoint of supporting the political process, the national interest, and enhancing active participation in the upcoming government."
In the same context, the legal expert Abbas Al-Oqabi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "forming the government means achieving political and economic stability, because the country is currently managed by a caretaker government that cannot take long-term strategic decisions, appoint special grades, or send the budget draft law."
He explained that "Iraq's bilateral and collective relations with the regional countries need sovereign decisions and parliamentary approval," emphasizing that "the reflections of forming the new government will be positive on various levels."
From his side, the legal expert Mohammed Al-Silawi explained to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the importance of today's session, Thursday, lies in granting confidence to a government with full powers capable of dealing with internal and external files," indicating that "the budget has been delayed for months, projects are suspended, and the governorates need funds."
He added that "the ministerial cabinet may not be fully complete, but the majority of the constitutionally and politically agreed-upon ministries will be voted on, allowing Al-Zaidi's government to assume its duties and achieve political stability."
He warned that "disrupting this entitlement will expose Iraq to major regional complications, especially in light of the ongoing war in the region and its political and economic repercussions."
For his part, political analyst Ali Al-Baidar confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "completing the entitlement of forming the government and granting confidence represents a pivotal step in consolidating political and security stability," pointing out that "resolving this file will end the state of anticipation and grant state institutions the ability to operate with their full powers."
He added that "the presence of a government with full powers enhances the confidence of the Iraqi public, political forces, and the international community in the state's ability to manage domestic and foreign files," emphasizing that "speeding up the formation of the government has become a necessity to maintain stability and continue construction and reconstruction operations."
From his side, academic and political researcher Ghalib Al-Daami stated in his declaration to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "if Al-Zaidi's government passes today, Thursday, it will constitute a new beginning for Iraqi politics, despite the major challenges," explaining that "it may be closer to the citizen due to its nature and form, in addition to the international pressures accompanying the process of its formation."
Earlier, the Parliament announced setting today, Thursday, as the date to vote on the ministerial curriculum and the government of the Prime Minister-designate.
The Media Department of the Parliament stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the agenda for Parliament Session No. (24), scheduled to be held today, Thursday, May 14, 2026, includes a main item dedicated to voting on the ministerial curriculum and the government of the Prime Minister-designate, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi."
