The Iraqi Meteorological Organization announced on Wednesday that an earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck northeast of Khanaqin district in Diyala Governorate.
The Ministry of Transport stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "our seismic monitoring stations recorded an earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale this morning at 7:56:27 AM."
It noted that "the earthquake was located 20 km northeast of Khanaqin district in Diyala Governorate, and was felt slightly by citizens living near the site of its occurrence."
