Al-Araji: Iraq Pursues balanced policy in international relations

National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji affirmed on Wednesday that Iraq pursues a balanced policy in building diplomatic relations with the international community.

The National Security Advisor's media office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji received the French Ambassador to Baghdad, Patrick Durel, the meeting included a review of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields."

During the meeting, Al-Araji affirmed, according to the statement, that "Iraq pursues a balanced foreign policy based on building strong diplomatic relations with the international community, in line with Iraq's supreme interests and enhancing its regional and international presence,” he emphasized "the importance of Iraq playing an active role in consolidating peace and stability and supporting sustainable development, far removed from conflicts and wars, stemming from its pivotal position within its Arab environment."

Al-Araji pointed out that "reforming the security sector is a national priority that aligns with the government's strategy and the principle of 'Iraq First,'" stressing that "building strong national institutions requires an independent national decision and a genuine will that places Iraq's interest above all else."

For his part, the French ambassador affirmed his country's readiness to provide various forms of support to Iraq, particularly in the political and economic aspects, in order to contribute to strengthening common interests and consolidating cooperation relations between the two friendly countries.
