Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari on Tuesday issued directives related to the intelligence plan for securing the commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (PBUH).
The Interior Ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that al-Shammari chaired an expanded security conference at the headquarters of Federal Intelligence Investigation Agency-FIIA dedicated to discussing and strengthening intelligence efforts aimed at securing the commemoration ceremony.
The ministry said the conference was attended by senior officials from across the intelligence and security services to ensure the highest levels of field coordination. Participants included intelligence bodies from various security agencies and intelligence directorates affiliated with the Interior and Defense Ministries, as well as representatives from the Joint Operations Command and the Popular Mobilization Forces.
During the conference, the minister stressed the need to intensify preemptive operational and intelligence work, directing authorities to activate intelligence-gathering efforts and unify databases and information to ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims, according to the statement.
He also ordered the deployment of intelligence units to secure routes used by pilgrims traveling to the holy city of Kadhimiya, stressing the need to raise the level of readiness across all axes and sectors surrounding the capital and at access points leading to the holy shrine.
