Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and French Ambassador to Iraq Patrick Durel stressed in Baghdad the importance of adopting dialogue and diplomatic means in addressing crises in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Hussein received the French ambassador in Baghdad on Monday, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them across various fields in a manner that serves mutual interests.
The statement added that the meeting also stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between Iraq and France on issues of common concern.
The two sides also discussed political and security developments in the region and the current regional tensions, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomatic tools in resolving crises in a way that contributes to enhancing regional security and stability.
The statement noted that Hussein reviewed the ongoing political movement and talks among national forces to form the new government, stressing the importance of supporting political consensus efforts in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the Iraqi people and strengthens internal stability.
