Iraqi President Nizar Amedi and former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi stressed on Saturday the importance of supporting Prime Minister-designate Ali Al-Zaidi in forming a government capable of meeting the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), President Amedi met in Baghdad with Allawi, who congratulated the president on assuming office, in the presence of Justice Minister Khalid Shwani.
The statement said the meeting discussed the latest political developments in the country and underscored the need to support the prime minister-designate’s efforts to form a government capable of fulfilling Iraqis’ aspirations by improving services, consolidating security and stability, and advancing development.
The two sides also stressed the importance of unifying national efforts and strengthening cooperation among political forces in a way that contributes to addressing challenges and reinforcing the state and its institutions.
