Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani on Friday said recent U.S. measures are “hostile and provocative,” warning of catastrophic consequences in the Strait of Hormuz.
In remarks to reporters, Iravani said the recent U.S. actions constitute “hostile and provocative behavior,” noting that the U.S. president had publicly acknowledged these measures.
He stressed that Iran retains its full right to self-defence under the United Nations Charter and will take “all necessary measures” to protect its sovereignty and national interests.
The Iranian envoy further warned that continued U.S. activity in the Strait of Hormuz could lead to “catastrophic consequences” not only for the region but also with wider international repercussions.
