Secretary-General of Asaib Ahl al-Haq Sheikh Qais Al-Khazali and Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces Faleh Al-Fayyadh stressed on Friday the importance of accelerating the formation of the new government.
A statement issued by Al-Khazali’s media office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that Sheikh Al-Khazali received Al-Fayyadh at his office in Baghdad on Friday evening, where the two sides discussed the latest political and security developments on the Iraqi scene, in addition to a number of important national issues affecting the country’s reality and the future of the coming phase.
The statement added that both sides stressed the importance of speeding up the formation of the new government in a way that aligns with the aspirations of the Iraqi people and enhances political and service stability, emphasizing the need for joint efforts among national forces to overcome current challenges and adopt dialogue and understanding as a basis for addressing outstanding issues.
The meeting also discussed the general situation in the country and the need to preserve national unity and support state institutions, in addition to stressing the importance of consolidating security and stability and continuing efforts that serve Iraq’s supreme interests and preserve its sovereignty and standing.
