Al-Sahlani Congratulates Iraqi Media Network on the 70th Anniversary of Iraqi Television

The head of the Political Prisoners Foundation, Walid Al-Sahlani, congratulated the Iraqi Media Network on Tuesday on the 70th anniversary of the founding of Iraqi Television. He praised the network's distinguished professional role in highlighting the suffering of political prisoners and commemorating their sacrifices, emphasizing the importance of continuing this responsible media approach.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Sahlani said, "On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Iraqi Television, we extend our warmest congratulations to the Iraqi Media Network and to all its media, technical, and administrative staff. We express our deep pride in this occasion, which represents a significant historical milestone in the journey of Iraqi media and a testament to its development over the decades, alongside the major transformations in the history of the state and society." He added, "Since its inception, Iraqi television has served as a vital national platform, contributing to the dissemination of events and the documentation of the collective memory of Iraqis. It has been present throughout various phases, conveying the voice of the people and reinforcing the values of awareness and national belonging, despite the challenges and circumstances the country has faced."

He continued, "On this occasion, we highly value the distinguished professional role played by the Iraqi Media Network, particularly in revitalizing national memory by highlighting the suffering of political prisoners, commemorating their sacrifices, and conveying their stories with utmost professionalism and responsibility. This contributes to establishing historical justice and enhancing societal awareness of that era."

Al-Sahlani emphasized "the importance of continuing this responsible media approach, which combines professionalism with a national mission, in supporting the causes of justice and fairness, and highlighting the facts in a way that serves the building of a state based on respect for sacrifices and the preservation of rights."

He concluded, "We ask Allah to grant success to all those working at the Iraqi Media Network in continuing their distinguished contributions, and that this institution remains a free and responsible platform serving Iraq and its people."
