The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced on Saturday that one fighter was martyred and two others were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on the land pilgrimage route in Karbala.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the PMF said it mourns “the fighter Safaa Saleh Aliwi, one of the members of Brigade 37 in the Popular Mobilization Forces, who was martyred while performing his duty in securing pilgrim convoys on the land pilgrimage route in Karbala Governorate.”
The statement added that the explosion targeted PMF forces assigned to protect pilgrimage convoys, resulting in one martyr and two injured fighters.
The PMF extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, praying that Allah grant him mercy and admit him among the martyrs, and wished patience and solace for his relatives.
