Chelsea decided to sack their manager, Liam Rossner, on Wednesday, following a string of poor results that saw the team drop to seventh place in the English Premier League.
The decision came less than four months after the English coach was appointed in January, when he took over from Enzo Maresca.
The London club suffered seven defeats in their last eight matches across all competitions, prompting the management to act quickly in an attempt to salvage the season, especially with the competition for Champions League qualification intensifying.
Callum McFarlane will lead the team in the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds at Wembley Stadium next Sunday and will remain in his position as interim manager until the end of the season.
McFarlane had previously taken over the same role earlier this season for two matches following the departure of Enzo Maresca.
Rossner, 41, is under a six-year contract with Chelsea, but Blues fans chanted for his dismissal during and after Tuesday's 3-0 defeat to Brighton.
