The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed on Tuesday that the US attack on the Tosca ship constitutes a violation of the ceasefire.
In a statement, the ministry said, "We strongly condemn the US military's attack on the Tosca ship and the detention of its crew as hostages," noting that "this attack is an act of piracy, terrorism, and a violation of the ceasefire."
The statement added, "We warn of the grave consequences of the ship's detention and emphasize the necessity of releasing the ship and its crew," pointing out that "Iran will employ all its capabilities to defend its interests, national security, and the dignity of its people."
It stressed that "the United States bears full responsibility for the deteriorating situation in the region."
