(Hatha Alyoum)– Activists have recirculated excerpts from a previous interview with former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on "RT," in which he discussed the circumstances surrounding the case of American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
This resurgence comes as the U.S. Department of Justice released millions of new documents related to the case.
During the interview, Assad questioned the official narrative of Epstein’s suicide in his New York prison cell in 2019.
He suggested that Epstein’s death was the result of his possession of highly sensitive secrets involving influential figures within the political systems of the United States, the United Kingdom, and other nations. Assad argued that Epstein’s "liquidation" was a "necessity" to prevent the exposure of complex ties between the worlds of finance, politics, and intelligence.
Linking to the "White Helmets" File
In comparing these events, Assad drew a parallel between the Epstein case and the fate of James Le Mesurier, the main founder of the "White Helmets" organization, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Turkey.
Assad pointed out that Le Mesurier was a former British intelligence officer who had worked with NATO in conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Kosovo, Iraq, and Lebanon. He questioned the connection between such a military and intelligence background and the supposed humanitarian work in Syria, accusing the organization of being a "front" for extremist groups.
Epstein Documents: 3 Million Pages Under Scrutiny
The redistribution of these statements coincides with intense public and legislative pressure in the United States, which recently led the Department of Justice to release a massive archive. As monitored by Hatha Alyoum, this archive includes:
